Gold Coast Seniors On The Net (SOTN) is pleased to invite seniors across the Gold Coast to join us for Get Online Week 2026: AI for Everyday Life & Scam Awareness.
This free community event will be held on Thursday, 22 October 2026, from 9:30am to 12:00pm at Southport Community Centre and is open to people aged 50 and over.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming part of everyday life, but for many people it can still feel unfamiliar or complicated. Our event is designed to make AI easier to understand and show seniors some simple, practical ways it can be useful.
Discover AI for everyday life
During the morning, our SOTN presenters and tutors will introduce AI in a friendly and easy-to-understand way. Participants will discover how tools such as ChatGPT can help with everyday tasks – from asking questions and finding information to getting ideas for recipes, writing messages and exploring creative uses of technology.
There will also be an opportunity for participants to try AI for themselves, with SOTN tutors available to provide hands-on support.
Scam-Smart: Be safer online
Online scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it more important than ever to know what to look out for.
Using Be Connected learning resources, our Scam-Smart session will help participants learn about common types of scams, recognise warning signs and understand practical steps they can take to stay safer online.
The session will provide useful, easy-to-follow information designed to help seniors feel more confident when using digital technology.
A friendly, practical morning
You donโt need to be a technology expert to attend. The session is designed especially for seniors and will provide a relaxed environment where you can learn, ask questions and practise with support from our experienced SOTN volunteers.
